Kanha Tiger Reserve , also known as Kanha–Kisli National Park , is one of the tiger reserves of India and the largest national park of the state of Madhya Pradesh. The park hosts Bengal Tiger , Indian Leopard , Sloth Bear , Barasingha , and Dhole . It is also the first tiger reserve in India to officially introduce a mascot, Bhoorsingh the Barasingha. In the year 1955, the region was declared a National Park. Currently, the administration of the Park is under the Forest Department of Madhya Pradesh. Kanha National Park is nestled in the Maikal range of Satpuras in Madhya Pradesh, the heart of India that forms the central Indian highlands. The national park is being popularized as the Tiger Reserve and interestingly is being declared as one of the finest wildlife areas in the world. Spreading across two revenue districts the Mandala and the Kalaghat , Kanha National Park was declared a reserve forest in 1879 and revalued as a wildlife sanctuary in 1933.  Its position was further upgraded to a national park in 1955. The effervescent flora of Kanha National Park boasts more than 1000 species of flowering plants. Besides, it also includes sal, bamboo, and other mixed forest trees along with meadows, climbers, herbs, and shrubs flourishing in the forest area.
